(Senior) System Administrator (m/f/d)

Blockbrain GmbH
Hamburg

About Blockbrain

For mid-sized companies, knowledge is the last real competitive lever. Yet knowledge gets stuck in tools and SharePoint folders — or disappears when experts leave. While IT is still planning, employees are already using ChatGPT and the like — without governance, and sensitive data is leaking out.

With the Knowledge Bots platform, Blockbrain creates what companies truly need: AI-powered knowledge management that is quick to implement, flexibly scales, and operates in a compliant manner. Teams use our GenAI building blocks to build tailored AI assistants, agents, and workflows in minutes — just like Lego.

  • Series A funded with strong growth momentum (10x product usage & 5x revenue in 2025)

  • Enterprise clients such as Roland Berger, Bosch, IONOS, and Harting from industries including manufacturing, finance, and legal — sectors with the highest security requirements

  • ISO 27001 certified, EU AI Act ready. Made in Germany.

Your Role & Responsibilities

As the sole System Administrator at Blockbrain, you will have complete ownership of our internal IT infrastructure and systems operations. Working closely with senior leadership and cross-functional teams (such as Product, Engineering, and Security), you will ensure our internal environment remains performant, scalable, and aligned with company goals.

You will be the internal driver for productivity. By leveraging modern automation and AI tools, you will manage the internal tech stack efficiently, evaluate new technologies, and build smart integrations that make our teams measurably more effective.

Cloud Infrastructure & Administration

  • Take full ownership of Microsoft 365, Azure, and our internal cloud environments

  • Operate, scale, and continuously evolve our internal IT infrastructure to support rapid company growth

  • Administer Linux, macOS, and Windows client and server systems

  • Manage internal cloud services, SaaS platforms, and infrastructure automation

IT Security & Compliance

  • Collaborate closely with our dedicated Security department to enforce IT security policies and maintain rigorous standards (ISO 27001, GDPR, EU AI Act)

  • Evaluate, implement, and manage device and endpoint security solutions (e.g., exploring tools like Microsoft Intune, Deeploi , or Deel ) alongside SentinelOne

  • Support vendor assessments, access management, and compliance monitoring using Vanta

  • Maintain and monitor secure internal network infrastructure to protect sensitive company data

IT Operations & Support

  • Manage seamless IT on- and offboarding workflows for all employees, leveraging modern device management and HR tools (e.g., Deeploi, Deel, or Intune)

  • Provide day-to-day technical support and troubleshooting across the organization

  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure internal IT seamlessly supports product development and engineering workflows

  • Manage relationships with external IT service providers and software vendors

Productivity & Tooling

  • Evaluate and roll out new tools and AI-driven features for internal process automation

  • Own the internal tech stack and drive technology selection decisions to maintain flexibility

  • Build and maintain integrations between systems for seamless cross-team workflows

  • Continuously optimize IT operations to improve team-wide productivity

Expected AI Skills

At Blockbrain, we don't just talk about AI — we use it every day. In this role, you will:

  • Build smart integrations and connect internal tools via AI (e.g., using APIs, automation platforms, or custom scripts) to streamline workflows and directly assist the team

  • Use AI tools to automate routine IT operations, generate scripts, and accelerate troubleshooting and log analysis

  • Actively experiment with new AI workflows to increase your efficiency and scale your impact as a solo administrator

  • Collaborate with the product team to provide real-world feedback on Blockbrain's own Knowledge Bots

  • Stay curious about emerging AI capabilities in system administration, applying them to your daily work

We're not looking for AI experts — we're looking for people who are genuinely open to working with AI as a daily co-pilot.

Your Profile

  • Systems & Automation: Advanced knowledge of Linux, macOS, and Windows environments, alongside experience with modern IT automation

  • Security Collaboration: Proven experience working alongside security teams, managing identity and access management (IAM), and utilizing device management tools (MDM)

  • Tooling & Integration: Demonstrated ability to evaluate, implement, and integrate productivity tools, SaaS platforms, and automation solutions
