Germany Marine Surveyor

RINA is currently recruiting for a Germany Marine Surveyor to join its office in Hamburg within the North Europe Marine Division.

Mission

A Surveyor in a classification society plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety, compliance, and quality of ships and marine assets. The main responsibilities are aimed at verifying that vessels meet international and classification society standards. #LI-DP1

Key Accountabilities

• Acts as a professional specialist for the organization in the application of related Rules, Regulations, requirements, concepts, principles, and processes.
• Prepares technically accurate and timely reports of inspections and surveys performed.
• Maintains survey files in an orderly and up-to-date manner in area of responsibility.
• Maintains active awareness of new working methods and developments affecting the technical scope of assigned responsibilities.
• Recommends new approaches to problems encountered.
• Performs routine surveys on classed ships, platforms or other marine structures and at manufacturers sites for compliance with classification and statutory requirements.
• Engages in contact with clients to solve problems within area of expertise.
• Ensure vessels comply with international regulations (IMO, SOLAS, MARPOL) and classification society rules.
• Liaise with shipowners, charterers, insurance companies, and port authorities
• Support audits for ISM/ISPS/MLC compliance where required
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of changes in regulations and industry best practices.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, or a related field (or equivalent seagoing experience).
• Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Marine Surveyor or in a relevant marine engineering/officer role.
• Solid understanding of vessel engineering systems, marine machinery, and international maritime regulations.
• Previous experience with vessel inspections or survey work is preffered.
• Good proficiency of German and English, both spoken and written.
• Proficiency in survey-related software and general technical tools.
• Strong communication skills and a collaborative, client-focused attitude.
• High standards of integrity, professionalism, and ethical conduct.
• Well-organized, proactive, and able to manage time and documentation effectively.
• Willingness and ability to travel both domestically and internationally.
• Valid driver’s license and passport.
