Senior Underwriter Surety (m/f/x, hybrid, 80-100%)

About your Role

As a member of the wider Surety Europe Team, you will be based in Frankfurt or Hamburg being part of a dynamic team of experienced underwriters, focused on profit-oriented underwriting for both DACH as well as European accounts. Our team is focused on building relationships with key partners in the large corporate and upper middle-market segments to further support the growth of our existing surety book globally.

Key responsibilities:

• Underwriting for new and existing clients in a senior portfolio in accordance with internal guidelines while keeping the focus on satisfying the client needs

• Acquire and independently handle client relationships, originate and process business opportunities with particular focus on client's needs and quality of service

• Analyse new business opportunities by accurately assessing credit and transactional risks, legal due diligence, following Swiss Re's processes and guidelines

• Develop account strategies to adapt position on existing accounts to expand our market footprint and monitor and steer own client portfolio

• Regularly meet and interact with clients, brokers and professional service providers to gather relevant information on market trends and opportunities

• Mentoring and advising younger professionals as the need arises

About You

• 7+ years of relevant working experience, preferably in a bank or surety insurer

• Experience in dealing with multinational corporations and providing credit, guarantee & surety solutions to large and mid-sized corporate costumers

• Mature and confident personality with strong communication and negotiation skills

• Excellent understanding of financial markets including debt financing, capital market instruments, and industry knowledge

• Entrepreneurial mentality, with strong focus on meeting objectives and achieving long-term goals

• Curiosity, agility and ability to develop and present tailored solutions

• University graduate or equivalent education

• Proficiency in German and English with strong written and verbal communication skills is a must, additional language skills a plus.

For Germany, the base salary range for this position is between 99,000 and 165,000 EUR (for a full-time role). The specific salary offered considers: ​

• the requirements, scope, complexity and responsibilities of the role,​

• the applicant's own profile including education/qualifications, expertise, specialisation, skills and experience.​
