Senior Software Engineer (BE/Node.js)

A Senior Software Engineer with drive to building robust, scalable backend services leveraging Node.js, shaping our backend architecture, and collaborating closely with frontend and product teams to deliver seamless, reliable solutions. Your expertise will significantly influence technological and architectural decisions.

Aufgaben

• Develop Robust Backend Services: Engineer high-performance backend services using Node.js and Fastify, translating product requirements into scalable solutions. Implement and maintain efficient APIs using Connect RPC and Protocol Buffers.
• Maintain and Optimize Infrastructure: Ensure database performance, scalability, and reliability using Postgres, Redis, and OpenSearch. Optimize cloud infrastructure and services (AWS S3, Lambda, SQS; Google Cloud PubSub) to support system scalability and availability.
• Collaborate Cross-Functionally: Actively engage with Frontend and Product to align on project goals, deliverables, and timelines. Participate and drive architecture discussions and technical documentation.
• Compatibility: Evaluate the consequences of API modifications and strategize for system-wide compatibility within the Node.js and Python services.
• Mentor and Support Peers: Provide technical mentorship and guidance to peers as in the lateral leadership principles, as well as onboarding new peers into our technology stack and workflows.
• Driving the Backend Tech: Champion the enhancement of our Node.js architectural foundation, ensuring scalability and unwavering reliability. Actively participate in planning sessions and contribute to technical documentation, particularly emphasizing Node.js best practices.
• Engage in Knowledge Sharing: Contribute actively to team knowledge-sharing initiatives, technical presentations, and documentation to foster continuous learning. AI Mindset: Foster an "AI as a service" mindset by proactively collaborating with product and frontend teams, suggesting innovative AI-driven solutions and improvements.

Qualifikation

• Minimum of 4+ years of experience in backend development using Node.js .
• Comprehensive knowledge of software design methodologies and software architecture within the Node.js context.
• Deep understanding of web frameworks, ideally Fastify.
• Proficiency with Protocol Buffers and modern RPC frameworks (preferably cRPC).
• Experience working with relational databases (Postgres), caching systems (Redis), and search technologies (OpenSearch).
• Strong practical experience in AWS and/or Google Cloud services.
• Familiarity with performance monitoring and observability tools (Prometheus, Sentry).
• Previous experience integrating third-party APIs (Google, Microsoft, Stripe).
• Hands-on experience with testing frameworks, notably Mocha and Jest within the Node.js environment.
• Capability to operate autonomously, address bugs, and innovate on existing features.
• Demonstrates a "get things done" mentality, with the ability to work independently, address bugs, and enhance existing features with innovative solutions.
• Strong problem-solving skills and a collaborative mindset, valuing feedback, shared responsibilities, and clear communication.
• Highly organized, articulate, and committed to deadlines, with fluency in written and spoken English.
• Eager to continuously improve and push projects forward, advocating for engineering best practices including clean coding, continuous refactoring, and automated testing.
• Thrives in a dynamic, early-stage startup environment, demonstrating resilience and a hunger for growth.
