Senior Project Developer BESS And PV

About the Role

Location – Hamburg, Leipzig (fully remote across Saxony)

We are seeking an experienced Project Developer to support the identification, acquisition, and development of open-space sites for utility-scale battery storage (BESS) and photovoltaic (PV) projects across Germany. In this role, you will manage projects from early-stage site scouting through permitting and preparation for construction, working closely with municipalities, landowners, technical experts, and external service providers.

This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in expanding renewable energy infrastructure within a rapidly growing sector.

Your Responsibilities

• Identify and secure suitable open-space sites for BESS and PV projects across Germany
• Negotiate lease or purchase agreements with landowners and municipalities
• Present projects at municipal level and lead public information events
• Initiate and coordinate planning law procedures (e.g., land use plan amendments, development plan preparation)
• Manage permit applications and support projects up to construction readiness
• Select, commission, and coordinate external service providers
• Maintain clear communication with municipalities, authorities, service partners, and other stakeholders throughout the development lifecycle

Your Profile

• Completed studies in engineering, renewable energies, geography, law, spatial or urban planning , or a comparable field
• Minimum 3 years of experience in utility-scale project development for BESS and/or PV projects
• Strong skills in MS Office (O365) ; experience with project management tools, GIS, or CAD is an advantage
• Fluent German skills (written & spoken)
• Class B driving licence (approx. 20% national travel)
• Excellent communication and negotiation abilities with a confident professional presence
• Independent, structured, and self-driven working style combined with strong teamwork capabilities
• High motivation to contribute to the expansion of renewable energy in Germany
