Head of People & Culture (all genders)
About the role
We are looking for a Head of People & Culture to lead and further build our People function.
This role combines strategic leadership with operational excellence. You will be responsible for developing scalable people processes, supporting managers in their leadership journey, and driving recruitment and organizational growth.
You will report directly to C-Level leadership and work closely with key stakeholders across the company.
This is a role for someone who enjoys building, shaping, and improving—someone who can establish structure while staying close to the people and the daily business.
DIGITEC Financial Technologies and Services GmbH is a well-established company with over 45 years of experience in the market, combining the stability of a long-standing business with the mindset and speed of a scale-up.
We are growing internationally, with teams in Germany and the UK, and remote employees across locations such as Singapore. As our business continues to expand, our People & Culture function plays a key role in shaping a strong company culture, enabling leaders, and ensuring that our organization scales in a structured and sustainable way. About the People & Culture Team
The People & Culture team is at the center of DIGITEC’s growth journey. We support the full employee lifecycle—from hiring to onboarding, development, retention, and offboarding—while building scalable HR processes that fit our business needs.
As a small team (currently two people), we operate with a hands-on approach and cover the full People & Culture spectrum.
The team consists of a Talent & People Operations Specialist, who primarily leads Talent Acquisition across all locations and oversees People Operations for Germany, and a People & Culture Specialist, who is responsible for People Operations in the UK and Singapore, alongside driving selected cross-functional projects and processes.
Our focus is on building a People function that is structured, pragmatic, and business-oriented—without losing human touch.
Your Responsibilities
Lead and Develop the People & Culture Function
- Take ownership of the People & Culture agenda and act as the main point of contact for leadership and employees
- Lead and develop the People & Culture team, setting clear priorities and working with the team through OKRs to align People initiatives with company goals as the organization grows
- Foster a culture of trust, transparency, and high performance across the entire organization — starting within the People team and cascading throughout all departments.
- Oversee and ensure smooth, compliant HR operations across the employee lifecycle (contracts, onboarding, offboarding, HR policies, employee documentation, benefits etc.), setting clear standards and providing direction to the team for operational execution.
- Build and improve scalable HR processes and frameworks that fit both our scale-up needs and our established company structure
- Ensure compliance with labor law and HR standards, especially within Germany and the UK entity
- Act as a trusted advisor and sparring partner for managers and leadership
- Support leaders in complex employee situations and guide them through performance management, conflict resolution, and organizational changes
- Drive leadership development initiatives such as coaching, training formats, and structured development plans
- Define recruitment strategy, priorities, and workforce planning together with leadership and in close collaboration with the Talent & People Operations Specialist
- Provide strategic direction and quality oversight for Talent Acquisition activities, enabling effective execution across all locations
- Continuously refine hiring frameworks and processes to ensure they are fast, structured, and aligned with our culture
- Partner with leaders to elevate interview quality, assessment standards, and hiring decisions
- Create frameworks for employee development and growth paths
- Support internal mobility and development opportunities
- Build scalable training offerings that support both employees and leaders
- Collaborate closely with Finance, Legal, Office Management, Payroll partners, Works Council and leadership teams
- Ensure consistent employee experience across locations and entities, including company-wide events and key People & Culture initiatives
- Act as a bridge between business priorities and people initiatives
- Help shape People processes that support DIGITEC’s international footprint (Germany, UK, remote workforce)
- Contribute to future international expansion initiatives
Preferred qualifications
Strong People & Culture / HR Background
- Several years of experience in People & Culture, HR Business Partnering, People Operations, or a similar role
- Experience working in a growing organization (scale-up environment is a plus)
- Strong understanding of German labor law (Arbeitsrecht) and HR compliance
- Experience with international setups (especially UK) is a plus
- Experience leading or mentoring team members (directly or indirectly)
- Strong communication skills and confidence in working with senior leadership
- Ability to challenge, influence, and advise leaders in a constructive way
- You are not afraid to roll up your sleeves and handle operational topics when needed
- You enjoy creating structure and improving processes without overcomplicating things
- You can balance day-to-day priorities with long-term improvements
- You bring clarity and calmness, even when priorities shift quickly
- Experience driving recruitment processes and scaling teams is highly valued
- You understand what “good hiring” means and how to create a strong candidate experience
- Business fluent German (minimum C1, CEFR) and good English skills (minimum B2, CEFR), both written and spoken, are required due to stakeholder communication, Works Council collaboration, and labor law–related matters in an international environment.
At DIGITEC, People & Culture is not a support function in the background—it is a strategic enabler for our growth.
This role is a chance to build sustainable people processes, empower leaders, and shape an organization that scales internationally while staying true to its values.
Interview Process
- First interview with the People & Culture team to get to know you, your experience, and your motivation.
- Second interview with our CEO to discuss strategic alignment and leadership expectations.
- Case study where you’ll have the opportunity to demonstrate your approach to a relevant People & Culture challenge.
