Installation Design Engineer (f/m/d)

Alstom
Hamburg

Req ID:517425

At Alstom, we understand transport networks and what moves people. From high-speed trains, metros, monorails, and trams, to turnkey systems, services, infrastructure, signalling and digital mobility, we offer our diverse customers the broadest portfolio in the industry. Every day, 80,000 colleagues lead the way to greener and smarter mobility worldwide, connecting cities as we reduce carbon and replace cars.

Could you be the full-time Installation Design Engineer (f/m/d) in Hamburg or Berlin we’re looking for?

Your future role

Take on a new challenge and apply your engineering and design expertise in a cutting-edge field. You’ll work alongside collaborative, innovative, and solutions-focused teammates.

You'll play a key role in delivering high-quality installation engineering solutions that meet project and regulatory standards. Day-to-day, you’ll work closely with teams across the business (such as Project Managers, Site Managers, and Installation Supervisors), review civil interface drawings, and ensure deliverables meet project execution requirements, and much more.

You’ll specifically take care of preparing and executing installation engineering activities, such as drawings, documentation, and work method statements, but also support the field teams in reviewing deliverables and implementing necessary design modifications.

We’ll look for you to:

• Prepare and execute installation engineering activities for bids and projects
• Ensure compliant, high-quality deliverables aligned with project and customer requirements
• Collaborate with field teams and cross-functional stakeholders to drive project success
• Review civil interfaces and define signalling installation requirements
• Contribute to installation strategies, material specifications, and quantities planning
• Perform site surveys and support project execution from preparation to delivery
• Drive continuous improvement by contributing to best practices and standard processes

All about you

We value passion and attitude over experience. That’s why we don’t expect you to have every single skill. Instead, we’ve listed some that we think will help you succeed and grow in this role:

• Degree in engineering or equivalent education/experience
• Experience in railway site management
• Knowledge of railway products and services across different market segments (Urban, Mainline, Freight & Mining)
• Experience in design, drafting, or engineering (project and/or construction experience is appreciated)
• Understanding of installation engineering processes and deliverables
• Familiarity with civil interface drawings and space allocation for signal equipment
• Strong communication and collaboration skills to work with diverse teams

Things you’ll enjoy

Join us on a life-long transformative journey – the rail industry is here to stay, so you can grow and develop new skills and experiences throughout your career. You’ll also:

• Experience a dynamic and meaningful work environment with a permanent role at a global leader in rail transportation
• Contribute to innovative and impactful signalling projects shaping the future of sustainable transport
• Work with international, cross-functional teams and supportive colleagues in a collaborative environment
• Take ownership of your career and explore development opportunities across functions, projects and countries
• Benefit from our strong investment in your growth through award-winning learning at Alstom University
• Enjoy a modern office in central Hamburg with excellent public transport connections
• Optimise your work-life balance with flexible working hours and hybrid working models
• Receive a competitive remuneration package including 30 days of vacation, company pension, and subsidised “Deutschlandticket”
• Thrive in an inclusive workplace with mentoring programmes, diversity & inclusion initiatives, and engaging employee activities

You don’t need to be a train enthusiast to thrive with us. We guarantee that when you step onto one of our trains with your friends or family, you’ll be proud. If you’re up for the challenge, we’d love to hear from you!

Important to note

As a global business, we’re an equal-opportunity employer that celebrates diversity across the 63 countries we operate in. We’re committed to creating an inclusive workplace for everyone.
