OceanScore builds trusted, data-driven solutions for Maritime Emissions Management and Compliance, helping ship owners, operators, and financial institutions stay ahead of regulatory complexity.

As our Head of Finance , you take ownership of building and running a finance function that reliably contributes to our international growth.

Reporting directly to one of the Managing Directors, you ensure that financial operations across five international entities are structured, consistent, and decision-ready. We are a growing, VC-backed company with five offices and 45+ team members. For us, strong Finance execution is critical at this stage: clean processes, reliable reporting, audit readiness and pragmatic governance that supports growth without slowing us down.

Your Key Responsibilities

• Financial Leadership: You lead and develop OceanScore’s Finance & Accounting function, act as a strategic partner to leadership, and support business scaling, international expansion, and operational efficiency.
• Systems & Process Excellence: You strategically support the ongoing implementation of our ERP, oversee full integration of core processes (i.e. AR, AP, expenses, reporting), and improve automation, standardisation, and data integrity.
• Financial Planning: You lead controlling processes including budgeting, forecasting, KPIs, and performance tracking, prepare investor and board reporting, support fundraising and due diligence, and translate financial performance into clear, decision-relevant insights.
• Group Compliance: You further develop and standardise consolidation across all global OceanScore entities, oversee accounting in line with applicable standards, manage outsourced providers, and ensure compliance, audit readiness, and consistent financial structures across jurisdictions.
• Team Leadership & Development: You lead and develop a team of four (Accounting Managers, Finance Manager, Billing & Invoicing), bringing structure, accountability, and consistent execution into daily operations, while strengthening collaboration and performance.

What you bring:

• You have at least 7 years of experience in Finance & Accounting within an international scale-up or SME environment.
• You have at least 2 years experience leading and structuring teams, bringing clarity and accountability into evolving setups.
• You understand financial governance, compliance, reporting, and audit processes, and know how to implement them in a practical, scalable way.
• You are familiar with modern ERP systems (we use Odoo) and bring a natural curiosity about automation, AI and a progressive tech stack.
• You are fluent in English, ideally German and / or Portuguese as well.
