Procurement Manager (m/f/d) Site Hamburg
Location: Hamburg
Responsibilities
- Lead the site purchasing department managing its sustainable, cost-, and quality-optimized supply with raw materials, indirect goods, and services
- Taking over operational purchasing from ordering to goods receipt. Placing orders, monitoring deadlines, ensuring permanent availability of goods
- Supervising supplier management from supplier search to price negotiations, conducting price and contract negotiations, focusing on close supplier relationship management, and closely monitoring
- Continuously qualify new sources for our chemical product groups
- Recommend cost-saving opportunities through alternative sourcing, substitutions, or new product introductions
- Work with European purchasing management on the ongoing optimization/digitalization of our purchasing processes
- Design and manage site risk management and purchasing controlling in coordination with European purchasing
- Develop and implement strategic sourcing plans for assigned categories in alignment with company goals
- Build and maintain supplier relationships to support cost reductions, quality improvements, on-time delivery and innovation. Conducting Supplier’s Audit together with Quality Management
- Confidently resolve complaints: You will manage complaints directly with suppliers, ensure constant quality, collaborate with Finance to ensure proper credit is received, and feed back learnings to the team — including a transparent process
- Analyze spend data, negotiate favorable terms, and lead cost management initiatives
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs/PIs) and drive continuous process improvements
- Assess and mitigate supply risks within the scope of responsibility
- Review purchase requisitions for completeness, obtain competitive bids, evaluate quotations, and award contracts based on quality, price, and delivery capabilities
- Identify and source new materials based on specific technical requirements
- Finally, you will actively support the expansion of the product portfolio with regard to ecological raw materials and work closely with product management, sales, and colleagues of Sustainability to improve continuously the product carbon footprint
Requirements
- Completed degree in economics or a similar degree
- Several years of professional experience in purchasing, procurement, or a similar administrative role, ideally in the chemical industry
- Strong communication skills, expertise in negotiation, and knowledge of contract law
- Confident use of MS Office
- Very good German and English skills
- Flexibility and ability to work independently
- Nice to have: chemical background and SAP knowledge
