2027 Oliver Wyman - Data & Analytics Consulting - Analyst (m/f/d) - Berlin
Company: Oliver Wyman
Description:
Who we are Oliver Wyman is a global management consulting firm. We work with clients through their most defining moments, combining deep industry knowledge, specialized expertise, and the power of perspective to help them adapt, grow, and thrive. We believe diverse perspectives make the work stronger. Our consultants bring different backgrounds, experiences, and ways of thinking to help solve complex problems and create lasting impact for clients, colleagues, and communities. At Oliver Wyman, we are proud of the values that we aspire to live by. We are committed to creating an inclusive environment where everyone can thrive and reach their full potential. Within Oliver Wyman, the Data & Analytics (DNA) division was established in 2017 and operates globally, with a particular focus on Europe. We are a dynamic and rapidly growing team of quantitative analytics specialists, collaborating closely with colleagues across the firm. Our work spans multiple industries, including Financial Services, Climate & Sustainability, Energy, Retail, and Transportation. What you will do As a member of Oliver Wyman’s Data & Analytics team, you will help clients make better decisions on some of their most important business challenges. You will combine analytical thinking, business understanding, and technical expertise to develop solutions that are both rigorous and practical. You will contribute throughout the project lifecycle: structuring the client’s problem, identifying the decisions that analysis needs to support, assessing the available data, and selecting an appropriate analytical approach. You will conduct analyses, build and validate models or tools, and translate the results into clear recommendations. As you develop, you will take increasing ownership of analytical modules and engage directly with clients and senior colleagues. You will also be an active member of the project team: sharing your ideas, discussing results with colleagues and clients, and helping turn analytical findings into meaningful recommendations and impact. Examples of the work you could contribute to include:- Building an AI toolkit to predict credit rating downgrades from news articles.
- Modeling portfolio decarbonization strategies for European banks.
- Optimizing promotions for an Asian health & beauty chain using advanced analytics.
- Validating a customer-facing GenAI chatbot for a bank.
- Designing credit risk models in Python for banks in Europe.
- Identifying supply chain risks using live data and AI.
- Work on challenging projects that help clients solve complex analytical problems, make better decisions, and create meaningful impact.
- Contribute to tailored Data & Analytics solutions across industries and geographies, applying analytical approaches to real client challenges.
- Be part of teams that measure success not just by deliverables, but by the difference created together.
- From day one, be encouraged to take initiative, ask questions, and bring your perspective to the work.
- Work alongside colleagues and clients at different levels, contributing your ideas and developing confidence through hands-on experience.
- Build the skills to communicate complex analytical concepts clearly and contribute effectively to client and team discussions.
- Expect a steep learning curve, as no two projects are the same.
- Expand your analytical and technical toolkit through exposure to a variety of challenges, industries, and technologies.
- Learn from experienced colleagues throughout your career, supported by a dedicated buddy, career adviser, and talent manager.
- Gain international exposure through opportunities to work across different cultures and, where projects require it, travel internationally.
- Work with genuine colleagues who collaborate across differences and support one another.
- Be part of an open and inclusive environment where diverse perspectives, backgrounds, and experiences strengthen the work.
- Bring your curiosity, share your ideas, and contribute to a collaborative team that values different ways of thinking.
- Build your career in an environment that supports both professional growth and sustainable work-life quality.
- Benefit from flexibility designed to help you balance your career aspirations with your personal life.
- Have the support and resources you need to keep learning, growing, and performing at your best.
- Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD degree in a quantitative discipline (e.g., Data Science, Mathematics, Natural Sciences, Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering), with a strong academic track record.
- A data-driven mindset and proficiency with numbers, paired with the ability to explain sophisticated data science concepts in an understandable manner to clients and colleagues.
- Proficiency in at least one programming language, either Python or R, combined with an eagerness to continuously expand your knowledge of technologies and analytical methods.
- Strong commitment to teamwork and resilience in a creative, dynamic, and constantly changing environment.
- Willingness to travel and work on-site with clients as required.
- Language skills: business fluency in German and English.
- Interest in or experience with financial services and risk management is a plus.
