In order to support the AI and Data Solutions Team, Airbus Aerostructures is looking for a Lead Computer Vision Engineer (d/f/m) .

As the Lead Computer Vision Engineer (d/f/m) , you are the strategic owner of our industrial vision capabilities. This is a high-impact leadership role where you will manage a multi-million Euro transformation rather than just technical scripts. Your objective is to lead a portfolio of Computer Vision (CV) initiatives that redefine quality assurance and production efficiency, transitioning the organization from manual inspections to automated, AI-augmented systems.

This role is also available with reduced weekly hours and an adapted scope of tasks.

Your Location

You will be working at the largest production site for civil aircraft situated in Hamburg. Its location on the southern banks of the river Elbe includes the option to commute by ferry. Your tasks and responsibilities

As the strategic engine behind our Computer Vision roadmap, you synchronize technical feasibility with industrial reality. Your mandate is to steer a multi-million Euro portfolio while orchestrating the cultural and operational shifts necessary to make AI-driven quality assurance a cornerstone of the Airbus production system.

Change Management & Organizational Transformation

• Strategic Advocacy: You are the face of Computer Vision at ASA. You will translate complex AI concepts into business value, convincing senior stakeholders through data-driven storytelling.
  
• Cultural Pivot: Lead the "human side" of AI. You will ensure that our 12,000+ employees embrace CV solutions, addressing fears and fostering a mindset of "AI as a partner."
  
• Industrial Integration: Navigate the corporate landscape to move CV from "innovation lab" to "shop-floor reality," ensuring it becomes a standard part of the ASA production DNA.
  

Portfolio Management & Business Development Investment Leadership:

• Manage the end-to-end lifecycle of a multi-million Euro CV project portfolio. You define the "why" and "when," ensuring every project delivers measurable ROI.
  
• Funding & Sustainability: Develop and defend business cases for AI investments. You will identify "Known Potentials" in our plants (Hamburg, Stade, etc.) and convert them into funded industrial projects.
  
• Global Synergy: Orchestrate collaborations across the Airbus Group to leverage group-wide platforms while maintaining KYDK’s agile edge.
  

Technical Vision & Expert Guidance

• Architectural Oversight: Provide the technical North Star for our specialists. You don't need to write the code, but you must be able to evaluate the "robustness" and "scalability" of the solutions your team builds.
  
• Technology Roadmap: Identify which emerging CV technologies (e.g., Synthetic Data, Edge AI) are ready for industrialization and integrate them into the KYDK strategy.
  
• Quality & Airworthiness: Ensure that all vision systems meet the uncompromising safety and certification standards of the aerospace industry.
  

Desired Skills & Qualifications

We are seeking a visionary leader capable of bridging high-level strategic change with deep technological expertise. You will leverage your extensive leadership track record to drive industrial innovation, implementing advanced computer vision use cases that deliver tangible business value across the ASA ecosystem.

• Strategic Leadership: Proven track record (8+ years) in leading complex, cross-functional projects or technical teams within a large corporate environment. You are comfortable managing high-value portfolios and multi-national teams.
  
• Change Management: Demonstrated ability to drive organizational change. You possess the skills to manage resistance, influence stakeholders at all levels, and lead people through complex digital transitions.
  
• Communication & Social Influence: You possess high "Social Influence." You can explain AI to a mechanic and a CEO with equal impact and empathy, fostering trust in new technologies.
  
• Resilience & Corporate Agility: You thrive in "white space" and remain decisive when navigating the "political Airbus game" and complex organizational structures.
  
• Technical Fluency: A Master’s or Ph.D. in a relevant field. You possess a profound conceptual understanding of Computer Vision architectures, Deep Learning, and Cloud-based deployment (GCP/AWS) to guide and challenge technical specialists.
  
• Business Development & ROI: Experience in managing multi-million Euro budgets and building compelling business cases for digital products that focus on value creation.
  
• Analytical Thinking: The ability to translate messy, real-world industrial problems into structured, scalable AI use cases
