Inspector (m/f/d) Substation Automation & Telecom Systems

We are currently seeking an experienced

Inspector (m/f/d) Substation Automation & Telecom Systems

to support an offshore wind project in the German North Sea starting in June 2026 . This freelance position is offshore-based and follows a 14/14 rotation schedule , with accommodation provided on the offshore platform during offshore rotations.

As part of your role, you will be entrusted with the following responsibilities:

• Conduct inspections, participate in automation, signal and communication system tests, and perform regular construction supervision for all related systems on the offshore platform
• Review and apply relevant technical documentation on site, including ITPs, test protocols, design drawings and specifications
• Report findings, deviations and non-conformities and discuss potential solutions and mitigation measures with the client’s engineering back office in English
• Monitor installation and commissioning activities related to automation and telecom systems
• Ensure compliance with project quality standards, applicable regulations and technical requirements
• Prepare inspection documentation and provide regular reporting on performed activities

• Completed degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, Communication Technology or comparable technical qualification
• Several years of professional experience in automation systems, telecom systems, electrical substations or commissioning activities within the energy or offshore industry
• Sound knowledge of HV systems and components, including transformers, HV and MV GIS, HV cables and protection systems
• Fluent English language skills (minimum level B2)
• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
• Ability to analyse technical issues, communicate findings effectively and collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams

Requirements & Compensation

Below you will find the requirements and the general working conditions:

Minimum required certificates:

• Valid GWO package (First Aid, Fire Awareness, Manual Handling, Sea Survival including Boat Transfer, Working at Heights)
• Valid Offshore Medical Certificate (NOGEPA, AWMF or equivalent UGUK standard)
• OPITO BOSIET, HUET incl. CA-EBS
• Electrically Instructed Person (EUP)
• Required PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) for offshore work

Additional requirements:

• Availability to start on 4th June 2026
• Availability for one to two 14/14 offshore rotations
• Ability to provide own work equipment including laptop, smartphone, camera (smartphone camera sufficient), SIM card and required small tools for inspections
• Ability to prepare and discuss inspection reports, findings and non-conformities with the client’s engineering back office and propose suitable solutions

Compensation:

• Day Rate (all-in) under freelance contract: 900€

Contract duration:

• One to two offshore rotations (14/14 schedule), with potential extension subject to project requirements
