Engineering Manager (Hamburg)

Wunder Mobility builds the software that powers shared mobility worldwide. Our platform runs 20M+ successful trips yearly , processing 50M+ daily API calls , across 500 cities in Europe, the US, and Asia. Operators like Forest (London), Green Mobility (Copenhagen), and Joco (NYC) rely on us every day to move cities forward.

As an Engineering Manager, you will lead and grow two fullstack engineering teams, distributed across Banja Luka, Hamburg, Vienna, and remote locations, that build the products powering mobility operators around the world.

You will guide engineers working across frontend, backend, and cloud technologies, helping them deliver reliable, scalable, and user friendly solutions.

Your role blends people leadership, technical judgment, and strong stakeholder collaboration. You will foster a culture of ownership, raise the engineering bar, and help your teams navigate complexity with clarity and confidence.

Please note: This is an on-site position based in Hamburg (Germany) with regular travel to our other Engineering locations in Vienna and Bosnia.

Tasks

What you will do

• Lead with clarity and purpose: Provide direction and alignment for teams across multiple locations, ensuring smooth collaboration and helping them navigate technical and product complexity with confidence.
• Grow and develop people: Coach engineers through regular 1:1s, offer clear feedback, and create an environment where individuals can thrive and grow.
• Build and scale a world class team: Hire outstanding engineers, raise the bar for talent, and address performance challenges with fairness and transparency.
• Partner with stakeholders: Collaborate with Tech Leads, Product, Design, and other leaders across locations, maintain strong communication, and travel frequently to build relationships and drive alignment.
• Deliver results at scale: Drive your teams to ship reliable, high quality software, improve processes, and support Tech Leads in guiding architectural decisions across the stack.

Requirements

What you bring to the table

• Leadership and people management: Experience managing engineering teams with strong emotional intelligence and a coaching oriented approach.
• Technical depth and judgment: Hands on engineering background and the ability to participate in architectural discussions, providing context and support while empowering Tech Leads to make final technical decisions.
• Distributed collaboration: Comfortable leading teams across multiple locations and willing to travel frequently to ensure strong alignment and team cohesion.
• Communication and alignment: Clear and structured communication with the ability to build trust and manage expectations across multiple teams.
• Operational excellence: A track record of delivering software in fast paced environments and continuously improving how teams work.
