Team Lead Engineering (Human)
What's it about?
As Team Lead Engineering, you support and guide our 7-person engineering team while staying close to the code yourself. You combine hands-on development with pragmatic leadership and have real impact, technically and culturally.
You report directly to our CPO and work closely with Product and Business to influence how engineering contributes to company goals and roadmap decisions.
We work in a Shape Up setup with real ownership and autonomy (no endless ticket pushing). You will help the team deliver reliably, improve how we build software, and shape a real-world system with meaningful complexity.
You are a versatile, hands-on engineer who enjoys working with different technologies and paradigms on a daily basis — and you know how to set up a team, workflows, and a tech stack in a way that makes AI a real productivity multiplier (not just a tool people occasionally use).
Your role
- Lead the team through day-to-day delivery while keeping a healthy balance between speed, quality, and pragmatism
- Create an environment where engineers can do their best work: clarity, ownership, feedback, and continuous improvement
- Contribute directly to the codebase and architecture: you dive deep when needed and stay hands-on when it matters
- Help define and strengthen technical standards, patterns, and ways of working within the team
- Identify bottlenecks and improve processes by asking the right questions
- Work closely with Product and Business on roadmap planning, trade-offs, and technical feasibility ensuring we build the right things in a sustainable way
- Further develop our AI-driven engineering setup, sharpening how tooling, workflows, and team practices translate into real performance gains
What we like
- You have experience in an engineering lead role (e.g. Team Lead, Lead Engineer, Engineering Lead) and have already guided a team in a hands-on setup.
- You don’t just “use AI tools”, you understand how to integrate AI into engineering workflows, standards, and team practices to sustainably increase speed and quality
- You are solution-oriented, pragmatic, and have a strong “can-do” mentality.
- You feel comfortable working in an environment with a mixed tech stack and varying code maturity and you know how to improve things step by step.
- You think analytically, focus on root causes instead of symptoms, and ask the right questions.
- You are a confident decision maker and can provide direction when the team needs it.
- You enjoy mentoring and coaching and genuinely care about helping others grow.
- You have strong communication skills in English (German is a plus) and collaborate well with non-technical stakeholders
- Finally, you have experience with at least 3 of the following technologies Elixir, Ruby, Go, TypeScript, React
